I just loaded up a huge mail store and want to archive everything before, say, March this year. I've tried various combinations of chronic commands and the 'g' to tag threads but I'm not getting anywhere. Also, sup seems built to *toggle* threads rather than force them to a certain state (+inbox or -inbox). Any ideas? The best strategy I've found is to dump the inbox, do a manual search replace on the appropriate range of the inbox tag, and then load it back up again. I believe that sup-tweak-labels is the thing you want to use. It's been a long time since I tried it but I do recall I was able to do what you're trying to do.
