I am using sup with IMAP. I connect via multiple accounts using multiple
machines. This is not surprisingly very slow. Is there an IMAP alternative
that caches all messages locally that is not too complicated to setup with Sup?
Thanks,
Joe

The solution commonly recommended is OfflineImap. I have not tried this myself.
Cheers,
Edward

That did the trick. Now everything is instantaneous.
Also, I noticed that Sup's polling mechanism no longer locks up. With IMAP I
used to have to restart Sup on occasion. Now that doesn't seem to happen. I'm
not sure if that's relevant to the that other sup-talk thread on locking but
maybe it's helpful info .
Thanks,
Joe

This is probably because OfflineIMAP polls more frequently. I've had good
results getting rid of the lock up by decreasing Sup's polling time (unfortunately
it's hard-coded in Sup).
Cheers,
Edward

This is one thing that would be a good candiate for a $config setting,
or maybe even a per-source value if you're in the unfortunate position
of polling multiple imap servers. Fortunately, I don't have to deal
with imap myself.
