Sup calls out to a sendmail binary rather than talking SMTP directly. So
you will have to configure your system to do the right thing. On Debian
and Debian-based systems there are nice configuration scripts for
telling sendmail to relay all outgoing email to a smarthost, deliver it
directly, etc.

Sup checks whether the command failed and should tell you if so. Do you
have a sendmail binary that's just eating the mail, or is Sup somehow
screwing up the system call return value check?
